“My ideas move faster than my fingers on the keyboard”

Anyone who writes a lot at the keyboard: emails, documents, messages, client replies. If you answer faster out loud than by typing, if your hands get tired, or if you think by talking, this profile is for you — on desktop and phone alike.

Wispr Flow (wisprflow.ai), a voice keyboard: dictation that works in all your applications (Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android), in more than 100 languages. You speak, it writes clean text — hesitations removed, punctuation and paragraphs added — and it learns your names and your jargon over time. It also includes a meeting notetaker (Notetaker).

How it works

Trigger: You have a text to write, in any application — you speak, Wispr Flow removes your hesitations, adds punctuation and paragraphs, and writes the clean text at the cursor, and you get clean text, written by voice, right in the application you're in.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Install the free app for your device and create an account.
  2. Grant microphone access (and, on desktop, the accessibility permission that lets it write in other apps).
  3. Place the cursor where you want to write, trigger dictation, speak normally: the clean text appears in the app.
  4. Add your names and business terms to the built-in dictionary to fix repeated errors.
  5. Turn off training on your data in the settings if you dictate sensitive content, and only upgrade to Pro if the free plan's weekly limit really gets in your way.
⚠️ Guardrails: Dictation goes through the publisher's cloud: don't dictate passwords, confidential client data or medical information into tools where they don't belong — and take advantage of the option to refuse training on your data. Always proofread before sending: numbers, amounts and proper names are the classic dictation errors, and an email sent too fast can't be taken back. Finally, the free plan is limited in words per week: test your real usage before paying.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wispr Flow free?

Yes: dictation works for free in all your applications, with a limited number of words per week. Pro ($12/month on annual billing, $15/month monthly) makes dictation unlimited.

Which applications can I dictate in?

Anywhere you can type: emails, documents, messaging apps, browsers, code editors — on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android.

Does it work in French?

The vendor says more than 100 languages are supported. Use the free plan to check the quality in French with your own vocabulary before paying anything.

What happens to my voice recordings?

According to the vendor: SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, and the option to refuse to let your data be used to train the models. Still be careful with sensitive content (see the guardrails).
