Cursor (cursor.com), a code editor with built-in AI. You describe what you want in the chat, in French, the AI writes the code, and you approve each change. It understands your whole project, not just one file.

How it works

Trigger: You make a request in the project — inspects the files, modifies the code, and explains its changes, and you get a change ready to test before accepting.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Download Cursor (free to start) and open a project folder.
  2. Describe your need in the chat: “create a page with a contact form.”
  3. The AI suggests code: read it, ask questions if needed.
  4. Accept the changes and test the result in your browser.
⚠️ Guardrails: Never paste API keys, passwords, or sensitive data into the chat. Reread every change before accepting it: the AI is fast, but you're the site manager.

Hybrid
Prerequisites
Per the official Quickstart: macOS 12 (Monterey) and later (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10 and later, Linux Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL/Fedora, or portable AppImage; installing the app and signing in to a Cursor account.

Partial
API & integrations
API: Yes · SDK: @cursor/sdk (TypeScript) · CLI: Yes · Webhooks: Yes · MCP: Yes
Models
Models named on docs.cursor.com: Composer 2.5 (Cursor's own model), Claude, Gemini, GPT-5.6, Grok, and Muse Wonder families, with per-model detail on the Models & Pricing page. Documented BYOK personal keys: requests still pass through the Cursor backend and Cursor's ZDR does not apply; no local model is documented in the pages consulted.
Data
Prompts and code context are sent to model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.); with Privacy Mode, no training and zero retention (ZDR) at the providers, except abuse detectors and certain retention-requiring models needing admin approval. Only Cloud Agents require temporary storage of encrypted copies of the repository, deleted after execution; without Privacy Mode, Cursor may store and use code data to train its models.
Documented limits
Documented technical limit: context window per model on the Models page of docs.cursor.com (for example 200k to 300k tokens by default and up to 1M max depending on the model; Composer 2.5 at 200k with no maximum stated). Request quotas are part of the commercial plans and are not covered here.
Operations
Documented SSO (the official SCIM page requires active SSO) and SCIM 2.0 reserved for Enterprise plans; on Enterprise: audit logs and AI code tracking API, granular admin and model controls, and Privacy Mode enforced organization-wide via the team dashboard.

Not documented in the official sources: Hardware, License.
